The bodies of three hostages kidnapped by Hamas, including the German-Israeli Shani Louk, have been retrieved from Gaza by the Israeli military, it announced.
The other two hostages were identified as Amit Buskila, 28, and Itzhak Gelerenter, 56, according to the military spokesperson Rear Adm Daniel Hagari, who said the three victims were taken to Gaza after being killed by Hamas at the Nova music festival.
Footage of what appeared to be the body of Louk, 22, on the back of a pickup truck on the streets of Gaza was one of the first images to surface after 7 October, as the scale of the horror of the attacks became clear.
The young woman was initially believed to have been kidnapped alive during Hamas’s assault in Re’im. However, on 30 October, Louk’s sister Adi confirmed Shani had died, probably during the attack, after the discovery of human remains that suggested fatal injuries.
This is the best summary I could come up with:

Last week, Hamas said in a statement that the British-Israeli hostage Nadav Popplewell had died of wounds he sustained in an Israeli airstrike more than a month ago.
A video previously released by Hamas’s armed wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, showed Popplewell displaying visible signs of physical abuse.
Last week, Israeli officials told the Ynet news site that hostage and ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas had not completely broken down.
Hamas said efforts to find a deal on a truce were back at square one after Israel rejected a plan from international mediators, while the White House expressed its commitment to trying to keep the sides engaged “if only virtually”.
The original article contains 524 words, the summary contains 198 words. Saved 62%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!
Is the IDF seriously claiming that Shani Louk died at the music festival? Post-truth era we live in. There’s video footage of her alive from October 7th is there not? Clearly another victim of Israel’s bombing campaign.
No, Hamas actually did kill people inside Israel on Nov 7, and not everything can be explained away as Israeli lies and propaganda.
The message is supposed to be that what Hamas did was horrific. It wasn’t “justified” by years of Israeli occupation. And now Israel has gone much too far in their counterattack by killing tens of thousands and putting many more at risk of starvation and lack of medicine.
A reasonable person can hold both views at the same time. These escalations are unfortunately taking us farther away from a stable and lasting peace.

It was initially incorrectly reported that she was alive and unconscious. This isn’t a new correction. She was declared dead in late October after investigators identified a piece of her skull:
A source involved with her identification told CNN Louk’s death was announced after forensic examiners found a bone fragment from her skull.
The bone fragment was from the petrous part of the temporal bone, which is at the base of the skull, normally near the carotid artery, a major blood vessel that provides blood to the brain. A DNA test concluded the fragment belonged to Louk.
. . .
The bone fragment, combined with the circumstances surrounding the October 7 attack and video that appeared to show Louk unconscious on the back of a Hamas truck, led investigators to conclude these were her remains.
If you’re talking about the girl in the pickup, no. She wasn’t moving and her legs were beyond mangled. Her family was choosing to believe she was alive but it looked real unlikely.
is there not?
Should probably figure that out (and perhaps share it) before making the claim, no?
