President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he fears Russia’s three-year war on Ukraine could escalate if Ukraine, supported by its allies, does not stand firm against further Russian military advancement.
Zelenskyy sat down with 60 Minutes in his hometown of Kryvyi Rih, a week after a Russian missile killed 19 people, including nine children near a playground.
Zelenskyy said that at this moment in the war, the security of the entire world is at stake.
Why hasn’t a ceasefire agreed already. all the virtue signalling pro Ukrainian memes “now name two counties which YOU would concede to Russia” are just meant to elicit a guilt trip response. Which personally I detest as it’s just a manipulation tactic. Just give two counties now, stop fighting, or if the fighting doesn’t stop, then you force the aggressor to reveal its cards.
There is a way for this to stop and you probably agree. Russia just has to stop and go home. That’s it, simple. But they will not. This indicates that the aggressor will not stop, whatever you do. You conceding by stopping yourself and handing over what the aggressor wants will not stop this war.
To put it simple: you have no control over what the aggressor does.
What you do control though is your own actions. And this entails to make the aggressor see that their actions are not tolerated. How do you achieve this proverbial “line in the sand”? By not letting them cross that line. What needs to be done to achieve that goal? By using force.
Bullies will not stop until you stop their aggression.
Your wish to “just stop already, concede and give in, go for a cease fire” will not deter nor stop the aggressor. History has shown us this simple fact time and time again. Your desire and wish for peace is noble and understandable but not realistic. I think deep down you know or realize this but let your desire for peace cloud this realization.
We are strange and weird monkeys as a species, having a moral concept or desire does not overcome this fact. Deal with it you must or your fellow monkeys will take your bananas and will give not two shits on how you feel or what your desires are.

That’s exactly what you get when you don’t punch the bully back. Russia broke the well defined post WW2 rule. It was a pretty simple rule too… Don’t try to rob your neighbour’s land.
They should not be rewarded in any way for it. If anything they already have been.
Not only that rule. Also the specific rule that they agreed to which was to respect Ukraine’s sovereignty if they gave up their nukes.

You deserve all the snark for it and more. Especially because you seem to not see the fact that this isn’t an isolated thing, that Russia does this on the regular and the fact that they struck for Kyiv the moment they started the war, already “showing the cards” - meaning they want all of Ukraine. Russia needs to fail, completely and utterly. Anything less will only embolden them further.
