If perfection is allowed to be the enemy of progress you will inadvertantly elect the regressive party. A party helmed by a guy who has said publicly on multiple interviews he would sic the national guard or military on protestors, undesierables and political rivals.
It is frustrating to have to keep going over this, either the correct choice is made by the US citizenry and the status-quo continues (as poor as that may be) or the guard rails of democracy are dismantled by a wanabe dictator and your prefrences wont be asked of you again.

If a visual inspection is all their doing (unlikely) then this amounts to nothing more that security theatre. If they are being more invasive the attendees will know (its DEF CON for fuck sake).
This may just prompt the attendees to book at another resort next year and hurt the hotel in the long run, seeing as this is very close to the opening of the con I dont see many groups changing their booking in time.
