Harvard also said that its own handling of the book, a copy of Arsène Houssaye’s “Des Destinées de L’Ame,” or “The Destiny of Souls,” had failed to live up to the “ethical standards” of care, and had sometimes used an inappropriately “sensationalistic, morbid and humorous tone” in publicizing it.

The letter, signed by Needham and two other leaders of the group, said that the library had a history of handling the book “brutishly on a regular basis, as an attention-grabbing, sensationalized display item.”

I gather this has something to do with it. It’s the item that got the most attention due to of the way it was (allegedly, as I don’t have any examples) presented to the public by Harvard, which was deemed inappropriate. I guess if they would have handled the item more respectfully, it would not have gotten as much as a push to remove the binding as it did, because there are tons of books, shoes, wallets, etc and whatnot from back in the day that use human skin. Hell, even the original owner of Des Destinées de L’Ame had another book bound in skin.
So it seems it just came down to the handling and presentation.

I watch Netflix on occasion and share it will my sibling, who watches it a ton. If it does go up any higher, I’m going to have to have them start paying for half. Otherwise, I’ll just have to cancel. They don’t have enough content to justify me paying anymore than I currently am. I’m mostly on Hulu anyway.

Regardless of where it’s seen, it’s still a bad habit we all need to break. It only perpetuates in creating division.

Man, I’ve started to see it happening between just the Millennials and the Gen-Z. I assume a good chunk of it is for rage bait/views, at least that’s what I’m hoping for. It’s so much better when we’re working together to try to better the future.

My question is, what exactly do they consider ‘breaking news’? These days every news story starts off with ‘breaking news’. If they want to interrupt me so bad, I’ll find whatever I want to watch elsewhere.

That sounds kinda cool actually. When you’re hungry and don’t know what you want, just walk around until something sounds good!

I hadn’t been to a mall in a really long time until a friend of mine dragged me to one to kill some time before a thing we had going on later that night. I was surprised how busy it was, and how much it had expanded in terms of content. There were a couple of art galleries and even a little tabletop gaming store with a few people playing Catan. The only area that was kind of deserted was surprisingly the food court, which only had a bubble tea place and a sandwich place open.
