The Roman salute excuse that many of his supporters promoted irks me because of how dishonest it is from the get go. There’s not a single Roman work of art that depicts the salute and it actually originated fairly recently under Mussolini’s National Fascist Party.

This is coming from the same administration that thought transgenic mice were transgender mice. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he actually comes out with something like this.

Ignoring the fact that he did what was probably the most vigorous Nazi salute in existence…

• He agreed with a post on Twitter that promoted the antisemetic conspiracy theory that Jewish people “push hatred” against white people
• He doubled down on the great replacement conspiracy theory
• He supports the AfD party which has not-so-subtle Nazi themes in official posters
• He actively created a safe space for Neo Nazis on his platform
• He threatened to sue researchers documenting the rise in hateful tweets
• After the inauguration “gesture”, instead of apologizing he made Nazi-related puns
• He shared a post absolving Hitler of murdering millions of people

It’s not just not outrageous to call him a Nazi, it’s a perfectly normal and reasonable thing to conclude especially when you consider his other behaviour and the kinds of things he supports

I feel the same way. I’ve seen the argument that it’s analogous to violence in videogames, but it’s pretty disingenuous since people typically play videogames to have fun and for escapism, whereas with CSAM the person seeking it out is doing so in bad faith. A more apt comparison would be people who go out of their way to hurt animals.

He’s proven that he does not care about court orders or rules of law, so I doubt he’d be against ripping up the constitution. Not an American so forgive me if I seem ignorant on this, but I hope that there’s failsafes against him getting a third term no matter what he does.

Not all that surprising that Canadians are especially pissed off. Didn’t he say Canada isn’t a real country and then he deleted the Tweet afterwards? Yes he did…

I’m one of the 36%. With ICE, the US being more hostile in general, and questionable aviation safety, I’ve changed my destination from California to Australia.

K9 units are considered police officers. So he essentially wants to punish some very good (and cute!) police officers who should be getting lots of good food and belly rubs for helping so many people be safe on their flights.

Honestly, same. It’s still really surreal to me.

I was planning on travelling to California to meet a good friend of mine. I explained that I’ve had to change plans amist…well, all this, and my friend said something along the lines of “I don’t blame you, I wouldn’t even consider visiting this country for the next 4 years”.

I was about to comment something similar but you said it before I did. Sometimes I’ll mistakenly open YouTube with Chrome and then I realize I messed up because I have to sit through three, sometimes one-minute long ads just to watch a twenty second video. I’ll typically just nope out and switch to Firefox. The worst thing is they’re unskippable and I swear for some of them the ad actually pauses if you switch to another tab or browser. I’m getting ads even on super old videos so I’m pretty sure it isn’t all to do with the channels themselves monetizing their videos.
