  • I don’t think it’s clear that they are not trying to minimize civilian casualties, it’s hard to imagine a more targeted attack than the pager attack.

I don’t know what the numbers are like for the Lebanon part of the war, obviously, but in almost all modern conflicts we see that between 25 and 80% of casualties are civilians. I imagine we’re on the high end here as hezbollah like to fight and hide amongst civilians and use them as shields.

I struggle to see how you can combat such an organization without heavy civilian casualties, no matter how you go about it. I’m not saying the Israelis are not making mistakes or even being disproportionate at times, but I just can’t see how you’re going to fight hezbollah without heavy collateral damage.

  • Well, she’s 12 and likes to play roblox and do funny voice edits on her videos. As I am sure you can guess, it’s stuff like one-click voice modulation which is the big selling point of CapCut for her. So I am guessing ease of use and the ability to at least create and save audio editing presets and do texts and so on is paramount.

I agree that this is not really a need that foss tries to fill which is ok. We tried kdenlive but it seems a little advanced for her needs and wants. I tried Vidcutter and it seems a little too simple (feature-wise, the usability was nice).

We just took a look at ShotCut which seems alright, but I think I am more into it than she is. I hope I can convince her to take a look at it. Thanks!

  • Within Danish law, yes. This is a so-called ‘sympathy conflict’ which is legal. The Danish model for the work market is that conflicts are legal until a signed agreement exists with a union.

When a signed agreement (overenskomst) exists, strikes are not legal until it is time to renegotiate the agreement, which happens every 4 years.

This system was put in place in 1899 following a four month lockout of more than half the Danish unionized workforce. In the end, the workers won the right to unionize, and the employers won the right to lead and distribute work under the terms on the specific agreement made with the unions.

As a result, Denmark does not have state mandated minimum wages or really much state meddling in the work market. It’s all self organising to a degree.

Edit: Here’s a bit in English about the September Compromise in 1899

  • I mean, if they were looking to do a genocide I don’t think they’d bother to use precision strikes, warming knocker bombs, and tell civilians to flee.

Seems to me Hamas with their rhetoric of ending Israel and killing all Jews are the genocidal part. Don’t want to see what would happen if they had the military Israel has.

Make no mistake, Israel is still an apartheid state run by awful people, but this is not genocide. This is trying to minimize casualties in an urban combat situation.
