Reminds me of when I joined some classmates to the supermarket. We got kicked out while waiting in line because they didn’t want middleschoolers there because we’re all thieves anyways. So most of the group walked out without paying.

It was interesting how random people came to talk to you and were really trying to get to know you. I don’t think that would work in modern day internet.
I knew they were around because at times I randomly remembered my ICQ number and I tried logging in, but they won’t let you if you forgot your password.
People coming over for work/business: expats.
Unemployed people migrating to look for a better life or job: (im)migrants.
That’s how I understood it.
I’m kind of in between. I’m not an expat, but immigrant doesn’t sound right neither. I just call myself a foreigner.
It’s strange how I’ve seen this exact claim before. How many expats do you know? I know a bunch of expats and there are quite a few Asian people in the expat community.
Not at all :) But I suppose it was obvious I was a tourist
Yes, I didn’t spend a lot of time in Germany but it happened several times. I traveled by train and they claim the train stations are where people do their business
It would at least help if they stop assuming the only reason a foreigner from the free west would come through Germany is to sell weed.
They make you empty your pockets and pat you down.
They look like gangsters claiming to be police, don’t even show a badge until you ask for it, they want all your stuff, like your wallet, to search through it.
At least it takes away one reason for undercover German police to annoy foreigners with their “random” drug tests
Tbf I ran it on my old phone with Android 8.1. I’m sure many people have old, still working phones they want to use for stuff
Nobody ever asks about gaps on my CV. They always turn me down, list some bullshit reasons, like not enough experience and end with “and then there are some gaps on your cv so yeah”
I keep hearing about Google being part of the downfall but I honestly never heard of Google Reader until long after it got closed down. How was this different than other RSS readers?
Feeds can be set up to just show part of the article so you’d still have to visit the site to read it all, which seems a better solution than losing the traffic completely. I’ve deleted many sites that just stopped their RSS at some point and I just kind of forgot about them.
Also, why can’t sponsored texts be added to RSS? It seems to me this would be hard to block by adblockers (and I’ll probably unsubscribe, but still).
I used to rely on news feeds through Firefox until they suddenly removed this feature. I switched to an RSS reader but around the same time, a lot of websites started dropping their RSS feeds. I’m out of the loop of why this happened and it’s probably one reason I feel so bored being online nowadays
It’s pretty good and you can create custom commands relatively easy. I wanted to use it for my smart plugs, which works by linking it to Openhab, but some hardware is not supported so I don’t actively use it. It only sucks that it loses its connection often so you have to log in to the website and link it again.
I wouldn’t donate to a nonprofit that pays 5 mil a year to their CEO, it sounds to me they have the money but waste it on the wrong things.
I believe you can set browser.download.useDownloadDir in about:config
I’ll just mention QMMP which is basically a Winamp clone. Works great and I’ve used it for many years now.
