I’ve always used aimp2, but my library broke file path metadata and the fixup tool fails to relocate them. I’ve looked at FOSS and free alternatives, and am not really, fully satisfied with any of them.

IIRC, I found none of them sufficient. Strawberry, Clementine, Audacious, MusicBee; all have dissatisfactory UI / UI structure for me. Foobar is way too minimal. From my exploration, MusicBee was the most reasonable, acceptable for me. The customizable tab setup is a confusing mess too, but otherwise… I’ve been using that for a while.

At some point I started implementing my own music player, making use of the BASS library like aimp2 does. But not much has come of that [yet?].

Maybe I can recover my aimp2 metadata, and will switch back to that.

Does it still require SMS verification? Or was that lifted? That’s where I stopped my out-of-interest signup last time.

/edit: It does not anymore. But my handle is taken now. :(

I’m playing the free hexceed, which - I have to assume - has an automated translation to German.

The exit button is labeled “Ausfahrt”. Which means road exit, not program exit. German has different words for them.

I found it very funny. Seeing the program leave as a road exit. But as a translation it’s bad of course.

IIRC Windows has an accessibility feature where the cursor jumps to the primary default action in opening dialogs.

Doing it screenshot based seems inefficient if y du could iterate through windows and controls.

Can you explain what you mean by free speech?

Is the free choice of content selection algorithm free speech? Isn’t the speech, the content, there either way, and could be selected through other alternative algorithms?

They’re describing one kind of free proprietary software and company setup. Which is valid. But the title claiming “[all] always ends in tears” isn’t supported by that.

My interpretation has always been that it loads [too] many files. File performance on many [small] files is noticeably, significantly slower on Windows than it is on Linux.

A few days ago I saw an interview with an EU official (I don’t remember who) which gave interesting insight.

They pointed out that they’re talking with China about these tariffs, that they’re taking a proof-based approach on them, reasoning and justifying with evidence of unfair subsidies, and that China has accepted such tariffs in the past for other things.

Collecting and discussing evidence obviously takes more time. But it defuses the “I put tariffs on you” -> “then I put tariffs on you” into a “these unjust subsidies were in place so we have to add these tariffs” -> “I don’t like it but I see”.

I wonder how those talks turned out, given that the tariffs have now been set. I guess I will hear from China if they object.
