It’s not just you, there’s been a lot of threads on let me talking about it but the problem with Mastodon is the fact that there is no content recommendation algorithm. You basically just get shown stuff from your local instance and maybe stuff it’s Federated with. Which is pretty much guaranteed to be a bunch of useless garbage nobody is interested in and random cat pictures.

Bluesky is not perfect, but it’s better than X and i can actually find content i want. I’ve tried so many times to Mastodon and it’s just not worth it. Finding content is a huge effort and i don’t want to put that effort in.

Blue Sky learned very quickly that I’m interested in artists content and now when I open it I find at least one new artist to follow each day so I can just open it scroll through the people I’m following look at the Discover tab to find a new one whose art I like and feel better that’s just not going to happen on Mastodon

Using modern filters, and using a pressure booster pump to ensure proper pressure level this is actually nowhere near as bad it’s now possible to achieve a one-to-one clean to waste ratio.

If you don’t want any waste you can go to nanofiltration which is roughly as effective as Reverseosmosis and does not have the Wastewater issue but they are significantly more expensive.

And it’s not as if that Wastewater is sewage it’s just the same water that came in with a higher concentration of the stuff that you didn’t want that was already present in the water so that Wastewater can be reused for gardening, or gray water such as showers and toilets

I get that they aren’t perfect but everything has a trade off and reverse osmosis or nanofiltration is really the only way to get rid of many different sources of water contamination especially things like microplastics and pfas

Just a heads up Brita filters do basically nothing it’s mostly just a carbon block which will help remove chlorine flavor which makes it taste a little better but in terms of actually removing contaminants it does very little to almost nothing.

Zero water is the closest thing in brita drip form that actually removes things but getting a counter top reverse osmosis is the way to go if not getting a dedicated under sink unit

Getting good is an alternative, coding will always be a trade between ease and quality. Super high level languages are super easy and accessible but the tradeoff is you have no idea what is actually happening on the backend nor much control of it and it requires bloated web engines to manage and run.

The vast majority of game engines already have seamless cross platform support. Nothing need be done beyond selecting your target when compiling. Use Vulkan instead of dx11/12 and good to go

Maybe it’s been improved, i haven’t used slack in many years now. But i remember it having hilarious issues with state tracking. Trying to go back to old messages would fail half the time it would just scroll up to some random midway point then give up.

Would see notifications of new messages in a channel but didn’t see anything new until reloading slack. Based on what you are saying sounds like they fixed that. Which is good, however I’m willing to bet it still wants 1GB+ of memory just to display some text so bloated/slow still applies ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And no I’m not one of those “just use irc” people. Telegram supports all the modern stickers, files, audio, etc but it’s fast and surprisingly light. But it’s also written in native C++ so that’s more expected

Slow, bloated, buggy af. Name one electron application that doesn’t struggle with state tracking over a long session, even just for simple shit like chat. The browser wasn’t supposed to be a real time application, no amount of trying to bolt it on will ever make it ok

Sure but you’re going to have fairly Limited flow rate or need an astronomically expensive solar still to be able to do the kind of volume at treatment plant needs to be able to do

Not to mention the astronomical amount of energy required to do that. Boiling water is insanely energy intensive at scale you would basically need to dedicate nuclear power plants to treatment facilities

I used to have a matrix home server but ended up just using an existing one in the long run. I would actually love an alternative to Twitter, mastodon just never really took off. This looks really good but i legitimately have nothing but problems with bluesky app. It’s performance is horrendous and I’ve watched it be horrendous on other people’s phones so it’s not just mine.

To be a little bit more specific I can easily trigger the behavior by let’s say browsing a specific art tag and then attempting to favorite multiple posts in a row. After I favorite one or two it’ll suddenly lock up stop accepting input other than letting me continue to scroll and I have to wait until it processes whatever it’s processing and then all the inputs suddenly catch up at once

Is this why the app is worthless trash? I just tried it and while scrolling through artists and trying to like posts to prime the algorithm the whole app will just stop responding. I can scroll but none of the buttons work. Can’t favorite, go back to home, anything until it suddenly does all the taps backlog at once.

Makes sense as it’s react native trash. I fucking hate that name. There is nothing native about react native it’s just web code garbage
