This is partly why they didn’t remove him entirely (or kill him outright) from gov’t work. They want a close eye on their cronies who have or could have receipts for blackmail purposes (both directions here).
NPR has given way too much support to far right commentary since 2016, that I’ve been tracking. Giving platforms to conspiracy theories, alternative medicine, or extreme right wing ideologies equal to factual positions. Even permitting right wing nuts to spew their ‘GA just needs to find ## thousand votes!’ lies as if it’s just a point of view on the facts, and not an outright lie.
I say all this to say, they’re already trying their hardest to appear unbiased, by putting extreme right wing lies on the same table as center or left facts. Now with losing 5-10% of their funding you absolutely will see a shift or impact on their reporting.
Most everything he has done would have easily been challenged, prevented, and or caused an impeachment if Congress was majority held by Democrats. It isn’t a difficult argument to say he has committed high crimes and misdemeanors, or treason, against the US by abdicating his responsibilities to uphold the US constitution… in many areas; due process, equal rights, free speech, separation of church and state, the good faith funding and management of congressional established agencies within the executive… just to name a few.
Edit: also, destroying the US from within while cozying up to enemy nation states, that’s super treasonous… then there’s blackmailing Ukraine, again, and waging trade wars with allies.
He fired the leaders who had a backbone and replaced them with sycophants, who have no respect for the constitution and democracy.
At some point California needs to say ‘no taxation without benefits from taxation’ or something more catchy and stop paying federal taxes entirely.
Many people are already complaining about never going to be able to draw from social security and wishing they could stop paying entirely into that system he’s fucking up, too.

And, now more than ever, maintaining the status quo balanced heavily in support of the oligarchy and capitalistic elite, is their primary job.
