Not sure why you’d think OP is saying 1 church per town. Just that there are ~380k churches in the United States, and less than twice as many homeless people.

I agree, far too many people are left out in the cold at night when we have many public, climate-controlled buildings with working bathrooms and possibly even showers that are empty after a certain hour. If the homeless were able to regularly get a good night’s sleep and a shower in, they might be more able to hold down jobs and become contributing members of society again.

Schools certainly would be great as a shelter after hours, most have gyms with showers, possibly laundry machines, and certainly ample space for someone to sleep with a sleeping bag. If we could just figure out a way to make sure everything stays clean for students to use the next day, no left-behind drugs, no vandalism, etc. that could be a wonderful solution.

My guess is that in most places the homeless population would easily fit within the gymnasium alone.

To be fair, Five Guys is every bit as expensive. But I’ll take Five Guys over most of those places anyway. Free peanuts is tempting.

HR was glad to use the protests as an excuse for the firing. They needed a good sounding reason since all of these writers were going to be replaced by AI anyway.

Seriously doubt this is an API issue. The error itself would make it seem like it’s a problem with your browser, but unless you have some overzealous privacy extensions installed that are hiding your user agent, it’s more likely to be a temporary problem on their side.

It should also respect your PRIVACY! There are numerous articles about CPAP machines transmitting your data to not only your doctor but also your insurance company, WITHOUT your consent. Possibly your employer as well. If your insurance company decides you’re “not complying” and using your CPAP machine enough, they’ll take it away from you. Your employer could fire you.

Having a sleep apnea diagnosis can also limit you from certain jobs, and can make it harder to get life insurance. In some ways it feels like you’re not a free man anymore.
