Half the reason it ends up so expensive is because no one has experience building them, and so they always end up over budget when they do get made (at least in the US)

And the danger is vastly overblown. Far more have died as the results of accidents in other power industries then as a result of nuclear. It’s very safe when properly regulated (and not run by clowns aka Chernobyl)

You do lose quite a bit of electricity going over long distances, but can overcome that with sheer volume. But that also means the closer the generator to the consumer, the more efficient it’ll be.

One thing I find interesting in that is that Chinese citizens have low trust in local government but high trust in the federal side. But as the study points out, it’s the opposite in the US with high trust locally but low federal.
