  • Recall that YouTube is Google. Since they are scraping massive amounts of data about users from browser and phone apps, I feel like they should be paying me, really. Google profits off of the content we create for them, and then profits off of tracking us both online and offline, and then they have the gall to charge us money for it and show us ever more obnoxious advertisements. They’ve trained their AI products off of every gmail ever written and every Google Voice call every made, every YouTube video ever uploaded, and I absolutely refuse to feel any sympathy for them trying to bleed more money from the public.

Call them on the telephone, and tell a human you would like to make a reservation. Telephone voice calls still work at every restaurant in my region. Also, get this, you can place take out orders that way at most places! It’s an amazing technology!

It saves me $10 per month, and that $120 per year is more than worth it. Plus, my home network is none of their business, and using your own equipment is your only means of privacy and control within your own network. I understand that not everyone cares, but consumers should be educated.

Usually you get 1 set top box included in your plan and a limit on how many devices can stream via the cable app at once (cable is all streaming now in most places, and even many small cable companies have Android and iOS apps to stream for their subscribers). You cannot usually watch cable directly with even a very new TV and coax alone, because its just video streaming over Cable Internet now. Then you pay a rental fee per box for any extra TVs, or if you need to stream to more than the included limit of 3-5 you have to upgrade your plan/package.
