A phone which can fit snuggly into even the tiniest of my jeans’ pockets sounds really appealing. I’ve kept a loose eye on these things for a while now, but I’ve been constantly put off by the price, durability, and sacrifices made to other features. My carrier also rarely (if ever) seems to extend any sales or promos to folding/flipping phones like they do for others. They are extremely expensive - exceeding even top shelf iPhone Pro’s and Pro Max’s for price.

Turns out, people don’t like it when software is installed on their computers without their permission. Especially when it violates their privacy! The term for this is “malware”.

A lot of Linux users here think the conversation begins and ends with game support. A lot of us use our computers for work and there is a lot of productivity and creative software that does not play nice with Linux. If I am unable or unwilling to purchase a game (lack of funds, ethical concerns, etc) and I cannot pirate it or get it heavily discounted then I do something very simple and efficient.

I just don’t play it. There are heaps of great games out there, new and old, that I can put my time into instead.

Many of the games that pack Denuvo these days are AAA trash that I wouldn’t play anyway.

Gamers are not the only people that use Windows. A lot of creative and commercial software either requires Windows or works best on it.

I think Windows is garbage as much as everyone else here, but switching is not that easy.

The primary reason I moved to iPhones was because I got absolutely sick and tired of my android phones being abandoned by the manufacturer after a year. I’m sure it is better these days, but those earlier days of extremely slow Carrier-based updates completely ruined my trust and I know I’m not the only one.

I kind of want a flip phone for the compact size when folded so it will fit more easily into my tiny pockets. But I don’t want a phone with a screen that likely need regular (and expensive) replacements if I want to keep using it long past the 2 year contract window like I do with most phones.

The price was definitely a primary factor, but it wasn’t the only one. The Vision Pro is a bulky thing with a dingleberry on a string and many reviewers noted the uncomfortable headband situation. It, like may headsets, is also a royal pain in the ass to deal with if you wear glasses and/or need really specialized lenses.

But a really big factor was that it’s an Apple product. Word travelled fast about how limited the software is and how you can’t really do much with it. Apple is going to have a hard time selling these things until they crawl out of their own ass and actually let people use their products how they wish to. One of the biggest appeals of AR computing is how it bridges together computing with your imagination, and that doesn’t really work when Apple says “no, you can’t do that because it doesn’t match our company vision”
