The Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary and Denmark are all capitalist societies and run on <5 day work weeks. Capitalism is not the problem, North American society in particular is what seems to have the problem.

Microphones, webcams, capture cards, etc
Lmaooooo you’re comparing two dudes kissing to a genocidal, white supremacist disctatorship. Get real.
Try it on an external drive. I did that a couple years ago just to fool around and see if I liked it, within a week it was my main OS and I’ve barely used Windows since.
The only modern games I’ve ever had issues with were a few select DX12 games (and that’s due to my GPU). Outside of that, some old games outside of Steam game me trouble, but that’s usually just a matter of fiddling with some settings in Lutris. Even then, those are usually games that also have trouble on modern Windows versions, and they often require less tweaking on Linux to get them running.
The torque issue would be really easy to fix. The beauty of EVs is everything is computer controlled, so it’d be as simple as programming in a “low” mode by making the motors deliver power/torque on a much more gradual curve relative to pedal input (emulating a traditional gearboxes low range gears). The weight might be less of an issue at that point, although it’s still going to be a problem no matter how you slice it
“Security guard” = US Marshall
“13 year old” = person on a crime spree who had a loaded firearm (deadly weapon)
“Steal a car” = steal a car with the US Marshall still inside, most likely while threatening them with previously mentioned firearm.
This person is the one who put the value of a car above a human life. If someone is willing to put a gun in my face for the sake of personal gain, I see no way how defending myself, even with deadly force, would be not justified.
I can totally tell tone of voice an intention through text /s
One of many methods.
Don’t be an asshole.
Yeah I’m aware they’re still in a really early/rough state, I definitely used the term pretty loosely. From what I understand they’re capable of reliably texting, calling, light web browsing and maybe playing some audio. If you aren’t someone who frequently/extensively uses your phone, and has decent knowledge of Linux, this may be enough for you. Def not the average user though.
Righ, just like how three letter agencies definitely don’t have zero-day exploits into your devices (until they remeber about that one they definitely did put in)
It’s since been backtracked as cited from another article. I was unaware as I don’t use Apple products and only heard about the plans when they were originally announced. I will update my original comment to reflect the feature being backtracked
Exactly. It’s like saying Linux isn’t open source because some distros come with proprietary NVidia drivers.
Multiple OS choices, hardware kill switches for connectivity/camera/microphone, expansion pins, etc. Modest specs but for enough functionality to be a daily driver, zero ads or spyware, and infinite customizability, $400 is a steal.
Apple literally scans your photo galleries for illegal photos.
Edit, looking into things, it seems like they might have backtracked on this one due to backlash when it was announced.
Same. A couple little bugs but overall a great concept, hopefully more future proof than the Vanced apps
ReVanced still works fine, grayjay also works.
I work in the auto industry. Besides the standard 4WD, SUVs have almost nothing going for them compared to a 5 door hatch/station wagon/estate sedan.
I mean, a RAV4 for example, while doing everything it says on the box, and not being an outright bad vehicle, has only marginally more passenger and cargo room than, for example, a Corolla Hatch, while consuming multiple MPG more. Sure, the 4WD contributes to this, but due to the lower weight, better aerodynamics, and smaller engine of a Corolla, it would still be more efficient even if it also had 4WD.
Not just saying your name, imagine having real conversations with characters, or better yet, having the characters come up with their own quest lines for you. Previously meaningless side npcs could in theory end up as a key character in an evolving story. Obviously thats probably a few years off, but it’d be amazing for variety and replayability.
This issue has been affecting YouTube for a long time. No one seems to know that there’s been a “YouTube Kids” app for years. It has built in age restrictions on content, restricted advertising, comments, parental controls, etc. However, it gets zero attention, and regular YouTube has been neutered to be more child-friendly regardless of the platform that’s actually tailored for children. It would be like Adult Swim forcing their show runners to make their content safe for kids, all the while Teletoon runs kids content all day.
No. I daily a Galaxy S23. I really like it except for all of Samsungs preinstalled apps that can’t be deleted.
A couple months back, I bought a refurbished OnePlus 6T (2018) to mess around with Linux and de-Googled Android, and guess what, my phone which is 5 years newer feels virtually no different. It does have a better camera, granted, but personally that doesn’t effect me as I do any serious photography with a proper camera anyway (also, I have to acknowledge that the 6T is slower as it’s not really a flagship phone like the S23, but the 6T feels comparable quality and performance wise to some mid range 2024 phones I’ve used).
Bottom line, unless we see more Apple M-style chipsets in phones, imo, we’re at a plateau. You could get a $200 5 year old phone and be fine.
