That’s how Reddit used to work until they made the idiotic change (IMO) to go the other way. A blockee loses the ability to even participate in any thread/post started by the blocker.

For example, after the change if I blocked you now, you wouldn’t be able to respond to me or anyone else further down a thread I started.

This is a boon to bullshitters, disinformation campaigns, etc since those people could just post their bullshit and then block anyone who attempted to call them out.

To me, blocking means “I don’t see $”. Not “$ doesn’t see me”. Ad blocking, script blocking, site blocking via DNS, etc is my mental model.

A browser plugin bringing the functionality back would probably do well.

Seeing as these ads will be targeted and of varying length, I wonder if a SponsorBlock-like extension with the ability to accept training data from users to help identify ads.

The Plex server application has a feature which scrubs videos and identifies intros so you can skip them like you can on Netflix. Wouldn’t it be sort of like that?

The argument that these voters’ position on abortion (and therefore their votes) are based on race necessarily requires that they are aware of the statistics. If the claim is they vote this way because it disproportionately harms minorities, how do they know it disproportionately harms minorities?

Note that I didn’t say racism didn’t exist anymore. I said it wasn’t the driving principle behind their position on abortion. And that hyper fixation on race does a disservice to them and others by often missing the point.

The cops claimed they had to open fire because the knife wielding man charged them. This video shows he did no such thing when they shot him, he wasn’t even waving it around.

Let’s get one thing clear, he definitely chased a cop with the knife out. Clearly unstable and screamed “shoot” several times during the encounter. I say that to demonstrate his state of mind, not that people who say that should be shot.

I’m here for the goalpost moving. Last thread regarding this incident was a bunch of “cops are lying”, “there is no knife”, and “yeah that’s a picture of a knife but we don’t know it’s real”.

I think unless you brandish your knife while doing crime, scream at the cops to shoot you, and still put up a fight after 3 attempts to taser you, you’ll probably be OK.
