Unfortunately alternative are closed source (ADM , IDM ) , I’ve heard that free download manager was open source but even if it’s still , I won’t recommend it because it was reported that it redirected Linux users to malicious links

I’ve always found download managers to be faster than browsers in downloading

Sure , indeed there are some foss app that are the same as you described
When I was testing Linux distributions on DistroSea it was pretty funny to me to see " Activate Windows " lines on the screen while testing a Linux distro
afaik there’s no one… The best you can do is to use the web instead of the app , better with Firefox + Ublock
