It is possible they reached higher ground of some sort and just haven’t been able to contact due to loss of electronics. In the other (unfortunately more likely) scenario their families would have to be informed before media reporting.
phdepressed@sh.itjust.worksto News@lemmy.world•US private payrolls post first drop in more than two years; layoffs still low4·13 days ago- Not the easiest thing to switch countries at least for MD/DOs. Only Canada and New Zealand accept US doctor qualifications (and not all specialities) without requiring additional training and sometimes repeating residency/fellowship.
Many countries (US included) have had high demand for decades but still put a lot of obstacles in the way.
Unsure about nurses.

Especially during war, dog tags and other record matching may help but not always. Logistics are complex during war and wounds can make proper identification difficult.
The UK did it mostly in the 20th century till the practice started falling out of favor. Personally never experienced or heard of it irl in the US but its in movies and TV pretty often.

phdepressed@sh.itjust.worksto News@lemmy.world•Tesla’s phantom braking nightmare: lawsuits surge as drivers lose trust in Autopilot3·27 days agoI guess my problem is I don’t trust sensors 100% of the time. If it engine brakes when I let off gas, great, but I want the option of braking myself to still exist.
phdepressed@sh.itjust.worksto News@lemmy.world•Tesla’s phantom braking nightmare: lawsuits surge as drivers lose trust in Autopilot1·27 days agoI’ve always been confused about the braking in single pedal vehicles. Like let off the gas and the brakes start, but what if you need to brake harder?

Pre-Dobbs and they would have been allowed that dignity. Mom has been dead for months now. The baby was not viable when she died. If the baby was viable when mom died a c section could be done. The family did not want her body kept alive for this.
The baby is also severely damaged and likely to need full-time care and live in suffering until it dies. It is less than 2lbs with severe brain damage.
phdepressed@sh.itjust.worksto News@lemmy.world•A brain-dead Georgia woman is set to be taken off of life support after her baby was delivered4·27 days agoThe baby is also severely brain damaged from the accident and unlikely to be any sort of normal. Like probably round the clock care to stay alive much less anything more complex per earlier reports. Was born at less than 2lb so its not even sure about survival yet.

Need about 11M to reach the supposed 3.5% “rule” which is near what 50501 was self-reporting.
Traditional media was reporting 5M to start and has slowly added more.
