That’s crazy.
Average person threatening the president… Definitely a red flag and you get a file.
Democrat threatening the president? Demands for apologies, cancelled, career over.
Republican threatening the president? Oopsie! It was just a joke! Oh look you get to speak at a rally now.
Isn’t it a felony to threaten to kill the president?
I liked his role in smallville. Sad to hear he is not very smart.
My father, who was a republican (he died, not that he recovered from political conservativism), really liked that Schneider was one of the few conservatives in Hollywood and liked what he stood for, politically.
Except that he detested anyone who held anti-lgbt views and only judged people buy their skin or gender in regards to being excited about seeing more representation in media. He frequently gave to charity and supported public education. But he was a firm believer in bootstraps and all that “no such thing as a free lunch,” and was ridiculously judgemental about laziness. He also was a pioneer of technology and held numerous patents.
Three point is that genius and idiocy come in a countless number of flavors. My dad was the smartest man I’ve ever known and he was a bit of a moron.
I question one’s ability to not be racist or homophobic while supporting a group that is notoriously racist and homophobic
“Well I don’t have a problem with Greg and Moh, myself, I think they’re great! And I know that the person I’m voting for is running on a ‘kill all the gays’ platform but he’s just so down to earth you know? How can I not vote for him?!”
It was easy to hide behind “I just have other PRIORITIES, like the economy”. It’s easy to do when it’s not your rights that are at stake.
Something about a river in Egypt.
Hyperspecialisation also doesn’t help.
Wouldn’t be the first time a renowned doctor thinks they know better than their accountant or lawyer, and fucks themselves over with their stupidity.
Relevant German word:
I once had someone argue mechanical advantage of a bicycle with me while I was at work. Building their bicycle. I was 25 or 26?
Anyway dude pulls the “Look kid, I have a degree, I was in school for almost a decade. I know what I’m talking about”
So I asked him what his degree was in.
He was an ENT doctor.
I actually laughed out loud and said “Until your degree includes engineering, try not to argue with science, and I’ll not argue medicine.” we weren’t getting angry while arguing or anything, all lighthearted ribbing mostly, but he was arguing with such conviction.
While I don’t have an engineering degree, I have specialized knowledge in this specific area. The other guy has way more education than I do, but it’s in a completely different field, but he figured that gave him some sort of authority on something.
What was he trying to say? That you put the small cog on the front and the big cog on the back the bike will be harder to push?
It’s called an “expert idiot” in English.
The linked page shows “Fachidiot” is also used as a German loanword in English (although maybe not that often; I’ve never seen it used in the wild)
The difference between intelligence and wisdom I suppose.
It seems he also played in smallbrainville
Don’t know what I expected from someone who ran moonshine in a a car called “the General Lee” with a Confederate flag on top…
Looks like them Duke boys are at it again.
It’s about heritage!
/s
I’m a gear-head so I figured I oughtta watch the duke’s of hazard, but after making it past a bunch of not ok “jokes” and comments there was one episode where the sexism was just outta hand and I quit watching it. The driving scenes are impressive, but a lot of it hasn’t aged well, to put it lightly.
Trying to stay relevant? I’m sure he earned himself some speaking engagements at various GOP events, at the least, maybe even a future in politics. Dukes of Hazard merch sales skyrocketing!
Probably also earned some attention from the Secret Service too. It’s nice to be noticed I guess.
freeze frame
“This Duke boy has got himself in one heck of a pickle. Let’s see if he can get out of it after these messages from our sponsors.”
Good ol’ boys, never meanin’ no harm.
Except death threats, apparently.
They actually caused a lot of harm, constantly…they just didn’t mean it.
Who?
Also
Cares?
An old tv show actor… basically it was about rednecks in cars. Pretty sure the only reason any one watched was daisy duke’s short shorts.
Also?
The secret service. They care. More than you might suspect.
It was mainly about the sweet car doing jumps and going dedeleeedeedeededelee.
Also why you’d occassionally see people with a confederate flag here in Europe. No idea what it meant, just looked cool on the car.
I agree with the “who?”, but then I’m not big in to TV and film.
The “who cares?” though is particularly problematic - it shows a rise in the normalisation of open threats of violence. Today, it’s a political figure who by the definition of the US’s party system is going to be a polarising figure - but tomorrow it can be any person that isn’t flavour of the week, justified or not.
It’s a bad downward trend.
I was reading the “who cares” as “who cares what he has to say?” (being a furtherance of wondering why this person has a platform or is getting a headline) I read it that way rather than “who cares that someone is threatening to kill the President.” (Which I think how you took it)
You are absolutely correct, I didn’t entertain the thought of the other view, thanks for providing a new angle on it!

Racist pieces of shit can still throw firebombs. When they are making death threats, the response needs to be a bit more severe than ‘ignore and shun’ .

We’re at the point of death threats and calling for violence. That’s literal terrorism. Letting them carry out said violence will give them far more of a voice than dealing with these people.
Dealing with death threats does not give these people any sympathy votes.
I bet the Secret Service cares about presidential death threats.
I wondered who he was. I kept seeing actor from the eighties and had no idea.
Also, dukes of hazard was from the eighties? I don’t guess I knew it was that recent.
Early 80s. I think they peaked in 81 or 82.
Beats all you ever saw, been in trouble with the law, since they day they threatened the life of a sitting US president.
Makes sense. He’s got an anti-American flag on his car
Wow I really did not know there was a confederate flag on top of that car. That’s crazy
