The video showed a teen crying after their grandfather put them in a headlock "because I asked to be called they/them." The account posted an Instagram reel on Tuesday showing a teenager crying while saying they were put in a headlock by their grandfather "all because I asked to be called they/them." The caption of the video is "BASED GRANDPA," with a fire emoji.
a grandfather putting someone in a headlock? Is that even legally considered to be abuse, i’m pretty sure if you lost your footing in the headlock there is a non insignificant chance that you injure or kill your grandfather. Unless this is one of those “my family has children at the age of 20” type families.
true, i didn’t read the article, as most articles are generally rather shit, and there was a summary, not sure what the point of the summary would be if not to skip the article, anyway those were just my immediate thoughts on the statement.

“Put in a headlock and thrown to the ground” doesn’t just sound like playful wrestling to me.
thrown to the ground definitely wouldn’t count. Just a headlock could though.
